Monday, August 9, a group from St. Louis is heading down to the gulf to help out and they are raising money for the trip.
Also Monday, there's a Homo Bingo Fundraiser for the Marriage Equality Bus to Iowa at Just John's (4112 Manchester) from 9 PM to 1 AM.
Tuesday, August 10, the monthly vigil for Women in Black will be from 11:30 to 1 PM outside of the Delmar St. Louis Bread Company.
Also Tuesday, the volunteer group Fuel is having their monthly happy hour at Pat's Bar (6400 Oakland) from 6 to 9 PM.
Also Tuesday, there's a benefit show to support the Marriage Equality Bus to Iowa at the Atomic Cowboy (4140 Manchester) from 7 to 9 PM featuring a host of great performers and speakers.
Wednesday, August 11, there will be an info meeting at the St. Louis County Library (7821 Maryland) at 6:30 for those interested in fundraising and training for a 1/2 marathon in Las Vegas for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation.
Thursday, August 12, there will be a Credit Building Workshop at the Urban Studio Cafe (2815 N. 14th) from 6 to 9 PM.
Also Thursday, the 14th Ward Democrats have their monthly membership meeting at 7 PM at the Firefighter's Hall (4271 Delor).
Also Thursday, the movie Edge of Heaven shows at the St. Louis Artist's Guild (corner of Clayton and Big Bend) from 7 to 10 PM.
Friday, August 13, the Missouri History Museum (Lindell and DeBaliviere)has a storytelling session on the theme I Love the Earth from 10:30 AM to 1 PM.
Saturday, August 14, there will be a Peace Train to Kansas City for an anti-nuke action leaving at 8 AM. Full info here.
Also Saturday, Black Bear Bakery (2639 Cherokee) is hosting a Brunch Benefit for KDHX featuring Smuggler's Cargo and great food from 9 AM to 2 PM.
Also Saturday, PubCampSTL at KETCC Channel 9 (3655 Olive) will explore ways that public media can work with the St. Louis community to address important issues in our region starting at 9:30 AM.
Also Saturday, the Missouri Coalition for the Environment is leading a hike starting at 10 AM at the bridge over Keifer Creek in Castlewood State Park.
Also Saturday, there will be a pub crawl in St. Charles raising money for the Brothers in Arms Foundation from 3 to 10 PM in honor of Special Forces Marine GySgt Robert Gilbert II.
Also Saturday, check out the movies Sankofa, Bloody Island, and Bamboozled as part of the Black August Film series, focusing on reflection and radical resistance, at 5 PM at Afro World (7276 Natural Bridge Rd.).
Also Saturday, the 5th Annual Thirst For LIfe Kickoff Party, raising money for the St. Louis Effort for AIDS, will be from 7 to 10 PM at Just John (4112 Manchester).
Sunday, August 15, the Urban Assault Bike Ride starts at 9 AM at 5595 Grand.
Also Sunday, there will be a Sunday Brunch to benefit SCOSAG from 11 AM to 2 PM at the Schlafly Bottlworks.
Also Sunday, the Schlafly Tap Room will show Food Fight as part of the Slow Food Film Series at 7:30 PM.
Also Sunday, and every Sunday, there will be a vigil for peace at the corner of Lindell and Grand at 7 PM.
