Daily Show Takes On Puppy Mill Supporters

It was amazing to see the crazy statements that the spokesperson for the so-called Alliance for Truth, the group formed to defend puppy mills, was willing to make to a national TV show. She said Prop B was "like ObamaCare" and would make the country more "communist." She argued that we should be allowed to stack dogs in cages where they can defecate and urinate on each other because "we stack humans" (as in, humans live in apartment buildings). She even criticized organizations that rescue dogs and give them away!

This is the kind of reasoning that was behind the primary organization pushing against Prop B. Their entire campaign was based on conspiracy theories and absolute gibberish. Yet they were almost able to block Prop B in Missouri. I think that says something about the pernicious influence of bad information in our society. We really need to figure out a way to fight back against the absurd misinformation that dominates Missouri politics.

Anyhow, with that depressing introduction, here's the Daily Show clip:

  1. It was a really funny bit with several jaw dropping moments. One of the funniest parts was working with the old Dog Whisperer and Olivia using his techniques.

The jaw dropping came any time Anita Andrews opened her mouth. And when America found out how close the results were at the end.

  3. Is it possible that she is an animal rights operative designed to make AW folks look bad? Who is she?

  4. The Alliance for Truth? That's what they called the opposition to the puppy mills here. Talk about propaganda....

  5. Sorry to disappoint you Walter, but that was the spokesperson for the main group opposing Prop B.

  6. The St. Louis activist club using The Daily Show as part of their propoganda is like a college professor suggesting his students using wikipedia as a source for a research paper; while some of the information may be correct, the source can't be trusted. I like The Daily Show. It's good entertainment, but I don't rely on it for information.

  7. Anonymous, those were direct quotes, on video, from the spokeswoman for the Alliance for Truthiness. There's a difference between relying on the Daily Show for news vs holding people to what they say on video. She clearly said that Prop B was "communist," which is idiotic. She clearly said that humans are "stacked" in apartments, which is idiotic. So what exactly are you taking issue with?

  9. Comparing Stacking Dogs in Kennels to people living in appartments is wrong. It says that the "Alliance for What-we-call-Truth" do not look at people as human beings but as property. Thusly, if you live in an appartment, you are cattle for the riot truck to come get you and turn you into Soylent Green.
What makes her so special? The fact that she owns a house?
