Activist Hub Radio 3/13/11:The Media's problem with Labor & NPR Punked by James O'Keefe's Lies

Adam and I discussed the mainstream media's poor coverage of the 4000+ pro-Labor rally in St. Louis, particularly the St. Louis Post Dispatch, and KMOV. We moved on to NPR getting punked by James O'Keefe's deceitful video editing, and ended the show discussing the Obama administration's maltreatment of Pfc. Bradley Manning.

This week Adam and I continued our on going discussion of the assault on workers in Wisconsin. We also critiqued the media coverage of the events in Wisconsin, looked at John Stewart's segment on the teachers/the Bush Tax Cut, and KMOV's reporting on the stimulus package. Activist Hub Radio 3/6/11:Update on UMSL police brutality case

Adam and I interview Brian K Massey, the University of Missouri-St. Louis student, who was a victim of a police brutality incident in November of 2010. Massey talks about his pending court case, the hostility he has experienced from the university administration and the police force, and how UMSL has refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing.

We talk about why the Republican bill would damage working families across the country, the misinformation from the media, and how the efforts like Republican Governor Scott Walker's are being replicated in Missouri and across the nation by wealthy conservative groups and the Koch Brothers.

ACTIVIST HUB RADIO EXCLUSIVE: Interview with victim of UMSL police beating

This week Adam and Kevin interviewed Brian K. Massey, a student at the University of Missouri St. Louis (UMSL), about the allegations of brutality by campus police on November 17, 2010. In an exclusive radio interview Massey gives a detailed account of the beating by the campus police.

The police admit to "striking blows to soft tissue areas," but Massey states that even after informing the police he suffers from diabetic neuropathy, the brutalization continued. Massey also reveals to Student Activist Radio, a letter from the university challenging the official police claim that he "tried to strike an officer" who later "was injured."

Massey also talks in depth about his experience with the university administration, as well as the media coverage he has received. Massey says he wants to clear his name hopes the university's actions will not be "swept under the rug." Join us to learn the how and the why of this unfolding story:

This week Adam and I continued our discussion of the fallout from the Republican takeover of the House. We featured Jon Stewart's interview with MSNBC host Rachel Maddow, and the false equivalences between liberal opposition to Bush, and the Tea Party's opposition to the government. We also talked about the deficit commission and attempts to pass the Bush Tax cuts during the lame duck session.

First, Denise Lieberman, the Senior Attorney for the Advancement Project, about voter intimidation and protection, and what Missouri citizens need to know about their right to vote. And second, congressman Russ Carnahan, of Missouri's 3rd congressional district, about Tuesday's midterm election and his efforts on the economy, protecting the environment, and students loans.

    Activist Hub Radio 10/24/10

    Hi all,

    Last Sunday Laurie and I hosted Dail Chambers and Jackie Masei, both local artist, to talk about the Celebrating Indigenous Holidays event presented by Playback Workshop Theatre and GYa community art & fine craft center. The event is being held from November 5th to the 6th starting at 7:30pm. Proceeds from the event will go to support GYa. We also discussed GYa's history and its efforts towards community empowerment in St. Louis.

This week Adam and I discussed Ed Martian's latest truth bending statements, along with updates from the campaign trail in Missouri's third congressional district. We spent the second half of the show talking with Nancy Cross, Vice-President of SEIU local 1, about Proposition A and SEIU's efforts as part of a twenty-five group coalition to defeat Prop A and its sponsor Rex Sinquefield.
